Mid West Music Fest

I was very excited and more than willing to design and create this website for Mid West Music Fest. I live in Rochester, MN now, but I started out playing music in the Winona scene and have been for years and my band is playing this year’s festival. Sam Brown, director of MWMF, has done an outstanding job rallying troops to volunteer for this lofty undertaking and getting the backing of the city of Winona, MN for this first-time festival taking place July 30-31. Sam wanted a website with a user-friendly interface that would allow him to update pages himself with little knowledge of html but that would still look professional and sleek. I bet you can guess what platform I used to make this happen…yup…another wordpress blog site customized to the client…thank God for wordpress. Another usefull feature is Sam can create different users,

Kitten Wedding site

Joel & Laura

So, a couple of my good friends were getting married and they wanted me to design their wedding invitations and RSVP cards. I did a a parking pass and this website for them as well. The thing is though…Laura really likes cats. I mean, a lot of people like cats and kittens and cute things like that, but Laura’s liking of them borderlines on obsession. My girlfriend Megan also contributed to this one because she had done some cat sketches that Laura really liked, so I incorporated some of Megan’s sketches into the design of the actual wedding invitation and website. The site features a blog style so they can log in and update you about the goings on of their wedding and allows them to post pictures themselves. It also features an online RSVP section where you can choose your party’s name from a drop-down menu list and

Rod Hansen for Sheriff site

Rod Hansen for Sheriff

Since my post seems to be appearing pretty high in the google standings when you’re searching Rod Hansen…let me say that this post and my opinions are in no way related to Rod Hansen or the Rod Hansen for Sheriff campaign. If you are wondering who Rod Hansen even is, he is a guy running for Sheriff in Winona County of Minnesota. He needed a good website and facebook campaign to win this one. Good thing he knew me, because I provided him with both of these things. So, if you’re in Winona County…vote Rod Hansen…he’s the best guy for the job and he’s obviously got the best website.

My girlfriend Megan also contributed to this one because she had done some cat sketches that Laura really liked, so I incorporated some of Megan’s sketches into the design of the actual wedding invitation and added color to them on the computer. I also incorporated the color purple because that was the wedding color. I really liked how the stuff turned out, and I’m sure you will too…unless you don’t like cats…then you won’t like it at all.

Mid West Music Fest

Mid West Music Fest

I got a chance to do some branding for the first Mid West Music Fest in Winona, MN. The logo itself was a creation of Sam Brown, festival director, but I created designs based on the color scheme and feel of that logo. I also created the sort of secondary text-based mid west music fest logo with the dates on it that was used for the website, flyers, and even a shirt that will be coming soon. It was a very exciting opportunity to be involved with branding in the infancy of a music festival. Growing up playing in the Winona music scene for years, I was more than glad to lend a helping hand with something that Winona has needed for so long…it’s own music festival…and I really hope this one goes well because I’d love to be working on more Mid West Music Fests

WOW World Out World Site

I designed this site for the midwest Work Out World! chain. WOW! is a national chain, but they recently opened up a location in the Rochester, MN area where I currently live and they plan to open another Rochester location soon. I created a bright, vibrant and energetic look for the website because, it is in fact, a workout center. It’s still a work in progress and they tell me they will be incorporating credit cards for online memberships soon. I got a free membership out of the deal too. I’m on a computer most of the day, so maybe I should get down there sometime…for my health…and my boyish figure.

Wrestling Superstars Live! site

This was a re-design of Dale Gagne Presents Wrestling Superstars Live. Dale promotes AWA wrestling…you know…they brought us such greats as Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair…heard of ‘em? I wanted to do a good job on this one. Dale threatened to suplex me if he wasn’t satisfied with the results. I told him I’m a designer, not a fighter.

Chippewa River Industries site

Chippewa River Industries provides packaging, assembly and other services to businesses while providing vocational programs for individuals with disabilities. That’s a good thing, so I was happy to be working for these guys. I re-designed their site to be cleaner, more professional, and to clearly illustrate exactly what it is they do. They also wanted to be able to edit website content on their own, like adding pictures or text to a page without having me around and programmed the navigation bar in way where they could easily add new links in it without having to be too tech savvy . I also designed the site as a wordpress so they can easily edit their own content from an admin panel, so if see you something you don’t like here I’m blaming them…just kidding…but seriously.

Local One Music blog

This is the future website/blog for Local One Music. It’s a wordpress website/website. This one was a re-design for an existent site, but the client, John Miller, wanted a more personalized, less generic template for his local music blog. I had a lot of fun with this one and can’t wait to get it up and running.

Alarmists, The Debut, My Private Eye flyer

Once again, I was going for the coarse and textured look of a screen-printed rock poster, without having to have a press because I don’t. I also borrowed the wave from a classic Japanese woodblock print called “The Great Wave” by Katsushika HokusaiI as a kind of tribute. I worked this one out between illustrator and photoshop and I really think it was a successful piece. Now, hopefully the show goes well.
