My name is Todd Hanson. I designed my first website as a middle-schooler and started doing design for others and myself back in 1999 while still in high school. It turned out, I was pretty into creative endeavors and design work and didn’t mind sitting in front of a computer all day. So, I decided to make it official and get that piece of paper they call a college degree. I now have a B.A. in Graphic Design from Winona State University where I attended from 2002 – 2007. Though, most of my edification was through corporate and agency work experience, the internet, and the kind of self-directed learning you just don’t get in school.
These days, I’m working out of Winona, MN and doing the freelance thing and find it very rewarding to work on all different kinds of challenging projects. I get to help a client achieve their marketing and design goals. It’s awesome to see a satisfied customer. It never gets old. I used to be a corporate graphic design sell out by day, doing design/marketing for the Fortune 1000 company Fastenal®. Though, I moonlighted as a rebellious, rogue designer challenging design normality when needed and crafting projects for a growing list of freelance clients. Of course, I would design boring and non-innovative projects if a client wanted me to. So, I guess I was a sell-out by night as well, but a man’s got to pay the bills and I will design anything I can. I don’t think there is any shame in that.
