Another faux screen printed piece for a Saturday night show at the Winona Historic Masonic Temple for Mid West Music Fest. It was rewarding doing this one because my band was playing the show and so were a bunch of other really cool bands from the Mid West. Also, the venue is amazing with a large seating capacity, great stage, and spectacular acoustics, and though I used to live in Winona, I never got a chance to play the Masonic Temple before. Each venue at the Mid West Music Fest has a flyer designed by a different local artist and they will be shown together at a Mid West Music Fest poster show and will be sold to the highest bidder. Don’t forget to come down and check out the show Saturday, July 31st.
Mid West Music Fest site
July 19th, 2010I was very excited and more than willing to design and create this website for Mid West Music Fest. I live in Rochester, MN now, but I started out playing music in the Winona scene and have been for years and my band is playing this year’s festival. Sam Brown, director of MWMF, has done an outstanding job rallying troops to volunteer for this lofty undertaking and getting the backing of the city of Winona, MN for this first-time festival taking place July 30-31. Sam wanted a website with a user-friendly interface that would allow him to update pages himself with little knowledge of html but that would still look professional and sleek. I bet you can guess what platform I used to make this happen…yup…another wordpress blog site customized to the client…thank God for wordpress. Another usefull feature is Sam can create different users,

Kitten Wedding site
July 19th, 2010
So, a couple of my good friends were getting married and they wanted me to design their wedding invitations and RSVP cards. I did a a parking pass and this website for them as well. The thing is though…Laura really likes cats. I mean, a lot of people like cats and kittens and cute things like that, but Laura’s liking of them borderlines on obsession. My girlfriend Megan also contributed to this one because she had done some cat sketches that Laura really liked, so I incorporated some of Megan’s sketches into the design of the actual wedding invitation and website. The site features a blog style so they can log in and update you about the goings on of their wedding and allows them to post pictures themselves. It also features an online RSVP section where you can choose your party’s name from a drop-down menu list and

Rod Hansen for Sheriff site
July 19th, 2010
Since my post seems to be appearing pretty high in the google standings when you’re searching Rod Hansen…let me say that this post and my opinions are in no way related to Rod Hansen or the Rod Hansen for Sheriff campaign. If you are wondering who Rod Hansen even is, he is a guy running for Sheriff in Winona County of Minnesota. He needed a good website and facebook campaign to win this one. Good thing he knew me, because I provided him with both of these things. So, if you’re in Winona County…vote Rod Hansen…he’s the best guy for the job and he’s obviously got the best website.

Joel & Laura’s Kitten Wedding
July 19th, 2010So, a couple of my good friends were getting married and they wanted me to design their wedding invitations and RSVP cards. I did a a parking pass and a website for them as well. The thing is though…Laura really likes cats. I mean, a lot of people like cats and kittens and cute things like that, but Laura’s liking of them borderlines on obsession. My girlfriend Megan also contributed to this one because she had done some cat sketches that Laura really liked, so I incorporated some of Megan’s sketches into the design of the actual wedding invitation and added color to them on the computer. I also incorporated the color purple because that was the wedding color. I really liked how the stuff turned out, and I’m sure you will too…unless you don’t like cats…then you won’t like it at all.
Mid West Music Fest
July 19th, 2010I got a chance to do some branding for the first Mid West Music Fest in Winona, MN. The logo itself was a creation of Sam Brown, festival director, but I created designs based on the color scheme and feel of that logo. I also created the sort of secondary text-based mid west music fest logo with the dates on it that was used for the website, flyers, and even a shirt that will be coming soon. It was a very exciting opportunity to be involved with branding in the infancy of a music festival. Growing up playing in the Winona music scene for years, I was more than glad to lend a helping hand with something that Winona has needed for so long…it’s own music festival…and I really hope this one goes well because I’d love to be working on more Mid West Music Fests

The new midwestmusicfest.org is here!
July 9th, 2010So, the new midwestmusicfest.org is now online. I’m pretty excited about this one because it was not only fun to make, but it’s something I can totally support. It’s a 2 day music festival in Winona, MN where I grew up and went to college and Winona’s needed something like it for a long time. It’s got fun for all ages with over 60 bands in all different genres, activities for the whole family with Kids Fest for the youngin’s…though I might be there too…don’t judge me. My band My Private Eye is even playing at it. Hope to see you there. Get your tickets now dudes!
The site itself was created with a wordpress back-end set up so Sam Brown and his loyal MWMF team can also get in there and change things when needed. Things are always changing and new stuff is
